18th November 2009 in ABERDEEN, and on 4th December in Skye …

Communication Course - Glasgow

John Killick and Kate Allan ran this very successful course in Glasgow on behalf of FiOP. This was the third course on this topic which is aimed at helping people to better understand dementia and ways of communicating with those with dementia.

A training day was held for Healthcare staff at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital - Once you were strong and in control, now you are old and dependent - ever wondered how it feels?

A workshop with healthcare chaplains across Scotland – looking at the spiritual aspects of ageing and what that might mean for those who care for older people, particularly in the hospital setting. There was a particular focus on the importance of story telling and listening and how this in itself is a spiritual task which gives great comfort to both listener and teller.
