A JOINT EVENT WITH GENERATIONS WORKING TOGETHER
BRINGING THE GENERATIONS WORKING TOGETHER
15th May 2024: 2.00pm-4.00pm
A Zoom conference to explore the principles of intergenerational work and to consider what we can do to become more intergenerational in our church communities.
In this seminar we will be joined by Lorraine George from Generations Working Together, who will help us explore what we mean by intergenerational work and the impact it can have on society. The authors of the book ‘Being an Intergenerational Church: Practices to Bring The Generations Back Together’, Suzi Farrant and Darren Philip will then invite us into the world of church communities where people of all ages come together in intergenerational relationships.
Through the seminar we will consider the following questions and more:
- What’s the difference between intergenerational and multigenerational work?
- How can you tell when something is intergenerational?
- What impact does being intergenerational have in faith communities?
- How can be become more intergenerational in what we do?
Generations Working Together is the nationally recognised centre of excellence supporting the development and integration of intergenerational work across Scotland. In 2020 it launched a call for Scotland to become the first intergenerational nation. GWT believes that intergenerational work has a unique and significant contribution to make in our communities by connecting people across generations.
Being an Intergenerational Church: Practices to bring the generations back together’ by Suzi Farrant and Darren Philip was published in August 2023. Reviews of this book have stated that “it has the potential to radically transform the experience of church for all ages” (Chris Barnett, Intergen, Australia) and “it provides a compelling hope filled vision of becoming an intergenerational church” (Rev Dr Ken Jeffrey).

IS THIS THE RIGHT TIME FOR YOU AND YOUR CHURCH TO E XPLORE ANNA CHAPLAINCY?

Thursday, 30th May, 10am-12.30pm
A Zoom Seminar
Debbie Ducille, Ministry Lead in Anna Chaplaincy will lead us through what comes after knowing about the potential of Anna Chaplaincy and what you and your Church need to consider.
Anna Chaplaincy is a community-based Christian chaplaincy, offering spiritual care in later life to those of strong, little or no faith and those within their network of relationships.
In a recent webinar hosted by FiOP (20 March), keynote speakers recognised Anna Chaplaincy as a timely response to current pastoral issues, a rapidly ageing society, and a desire to honour older people in our midst. Anna Chaplaincy has a proven track record as a flexible, compassionate model of ministry among older people in our communities, often led by people of mature years themselves. Is this the right time for your church to explore Anna Chaplaincy?
In this workshop, Ministry Lead Debbie Ducille will present an outline of the vision, training, principles, and processes of Anna Chaplaincy. Participants will be invited to reflect on their own contexts, exploring next practical steps together of how to set up this ministry in their local church.
We look forward to welcoming you.
